Carol McLaughlin - Artist of "Ancient Visions"
Carol McLaughlin is a watercolor artist that blends the bold designs of ancient art on stone and the delicacy of indigenous flora and fauna in her work. She began her successful career as a fine artist in 1986, earning numerous awards since then. Her work can be seen in various galleries and art shows in the Northwest, including the Charlie Russell Art Auction and Show in Great Falls, Montana. Carol was honored by being selected to show in the prestigious Leigh Yawkey Woodson Birds in Art Show in 1996. In 1997 and 1998 "US Art" and "Inform Art" magazines featured articles that included Carol as an artist specializing in painting petroglyph sites. In addition to exhibiting at shows, Carol's work is represented at Valley Bronze in Astoria, Oregon.

Carol has visited many rock art sites in the western states, and notes that the precise purpose of petroglyphs remains a part of their mystery and adds to their intrigue. Carol is also inspired by the prehistoric cave paintings found in France and Spain. She creates her works using layers of paint and aggressive brush strokes to capture the texture of the cave walls and the spontaneity of those drawings which date back as much as 30,000 years. Carol combines wildlife, wildflowers and the untamed art of the original peoples to create "Ancient Visions."
